The Russian River Resort Area or the lower Russian
River is comprised of all river towns west of the Highway 101. This is the most
popular area to enjoy river activities. The geography is hilly and wooded. You
will surely feel out in the country. Guerneville lies at the center or this region.
By moving either towards the coast or northeast towards the wine region you can
put yourself in position to be closest to those activities you most seek. |

Set along the beautiful Sonoma County coastline, the
Russian River coast is home to many spectacular parks and several charming towns.
The river enters the ocean just as it runs past the town of Jenner. The river's
mouth is also the start of a state owned (public access) section of coastline
which runs 10 miles south to Bodega Bay. North of Jenner the coastline becomes
more rugged and dramatic and makes for great a great scenic drive to visit the
historical Fort Ross, Gualala or one of the parks. |

The Russian River Wine Region or the Upper Russian
River is all river towns north of the River Road / Guerneville exit. The land
is open with rolling hills framing the landscapes. There are many famous winemakers
who grow their grapes in the renowned viticulture regions of the Russian River
area. Visitors can taste wines over diver, at tasting rooms or by visiting the
wineries. |

The inland region is a combination of some of the best
aspects of the resort region and wine region. You will fine great dining here
and can experience the Northern California country without venturing too far into
it. Sebastopol is the largest town of the region with theater productions, fairs
and other events. Occidental is a town almost made for tourists. The little downtown
set in the hills is packed full of one great shopping and dining businesses after
another. |
