From Dawn Bell press release
Monte Rio/Guerneville, CA: Sonoma County has been long identified as Organic and
Artsy. It’s something to be proud of if you live here and something you
seek when you visit here. All the more reason to visit the Certified Farmer’s
Markets that take place all around West County. Specifically, for those Russian
River dwellers and visitors the two that happen in Guerneville and Monte Rio each
week deserve your attention. You can get farm fresh vegetables and fruits, cut
flowers, plants and honey, as well hand made soaps and jewelry and an array of
other homegrown and hand-made items all in an environment that is eco-friendly
and dosed with a good measure of local musicians. It is unique and beautiful and
should be a part of everyone’s weekly schedule of “things to do”.
The Salmon are running again so very often you will have the chance to
buy fresh-off-the-boat Salmon which is a far site better than the Atlantic Salmon
that is sold at local grocery stores. If you’ve never tasted wild Salmon,
you haven’t really tasted Salmon.

This is SonomaZone favorite Farmers' Market in Sonoma County. If it has
a drawback, it's that it is so fiercely regional (almost neighborhood-like) in
its welcomed purveyors. On the other hand, that's clearly a major reason why the
quality of the goods is so consistently above average (if not to say superb) and
the market so popular. There's a large (sometimes huge) crowd of locals (including
some of the more outstanding chefs in the area) standing around waiting for the
opening gong to sound every Saturday morning exactly at 9.
